Beginning at the Newtown Barge Playground (Greenpoint) through Williamsburg, past the Brooklyn Navy Yard, through Dumbo, Columbia Waterfront District, Red Hook, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, along the Shore Parkway under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, through Sheepshead Bay to Floyd Bennett Field.
This year cyclists can choose two different routes:
-Go straight to the finish line by going over the Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge
-Continue towards Jamaica Bay, over the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge, into Rockaway Beach and from there, ride towards Jacob Riis Park (finish line) which is an additional 15 miles.
Note: there are no road closures, so participants must be confident riding with traffic.
This year, the finish line is located at Jacob Riis Park instead of Beach 97 (The Epic Ride 2015) but don’t worry, there will still be food, drinks, complimentary bike valet, ocean and more at Riis Park Beach Bazaar.
By participating in The Epic Ride, you are supporting Brooklyn Greenway Initiative, the non-profit organization committed to the establishment, development and long-term stewardship of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. When complete, this 14-mile landscaped route for pedestrians and cyclists will connect neighborhood parks and open spaces from Greenpoint to Bay Ridge.
